Remember Google Profiles ? It had a descent URL like http://www.google.com/profiles/NAME . And now since GooglePLUS have arrivedd you might have noticed your google profile URL getting redirected to horrifying strings of meaningless numbers. For example, mine is 117335692509577373964. WOW ! How easy to remember 😛
Its okay if it looks like shit on the Web, but the problem arrives when it gets even worse in an email signature !  Unlike Facebook and Twitter, Google+ doesn’t offer vanity URLs for user profiles, making it more difficult to share your Google+ Profile with your friends. In Facebook and Twitter , there’s an option to choose our own custom usernames . However , Google+ currently shows a long numeric string of digits and our friends might have problems with that lengthy url. But if you want to learn and remember your profile URL so that you can share your profile [of course offline !] head to services provided below
Now these above are easy vanity URL shorteners that would let you create a spic and span , neat and tidy … what more ? Ahh ! A handy nickname 😀 that redirects to your Google+ account. So instead of user 117335692509577373964 , It can just be service.com/yourname.
The working is simple. Simply visit your preferred site from the list above, enter your Google+ ID i.e. the numeric string of numbers and then type in you favourite name that you wish to assign as your google plus profile vanity url. And then click Add. Finally you get an awesome nice looking url that you can share it with you friends. Grab fast or your desired Profile Vanity URL might get gone !
Note:  These services are third-party apps which allows you to set a custom Google+ username and therefore are not a product from google. I hope that Google+ will bring this vanity Profile URL feature soon. Dont worry , we will update this once we come to know 😉
I think these parameters make the profile on Google + more secure than other social media.
I use gplus.to service to get my own google+ url..
I also use gplus for my Google+ url. Thanks for share.
thanks for sharing this with us. this will surely makes Google+ more secure and also satisfy users .
Hi! Thanks for sharing this tip. I’m not using a vanity profile url at the moment but I’m going to visit the services that you provided and choose one I like.
Knowing Google, I think sooner or later they will address this issue and roll out their own version.
I have studied a little bit about Google +.Google + management has tried to make it unique in every sense. This one feature that you have explained in this post.
I use Gplus.to
for me Gplus still confusing
The question is: why doesn’t G+ allow you to have vanity URL for each account? Those in facebook or other portals look great… so this would seems an error unless there’s something else at stake…
I got a beta invite for G+ and jumped right in but I find myself using it less and less every week; it’s hard to get out of Facebook but more importantly, it feels like another place where I need to “keep up” – I’m using less and less social media across the board, actually.
Great suggestions. I missed out on my Facebook one because I just didn’t want to do FB anymore. I won’t miss this one!
Cool, there was no way anyone can remember those horrible long URLs! Hope Googles comes out with an official solution soon.
gplus.to for me…
Google+ is really going well and on the straight path. the administration of Google+ are going to make it more secure and useful for users and online marketers.
Thanks for sharing this tip, I was unknown about this one.
Personally, I haven’t used a vanity account yet but it sounds great. As I’m still trying to get a grip on Google+ as of now. Thanks for the info though. I’m sure that Google has a pretty good reason behind it, they always do but it’s mostly for their benefit.
i still not use vanity URL but thinking about to join and use services which i wants. great stunning and useful post. your every post brings something new for me.
Nice tip dude… I think will shortly offer username for all google+ profile based on the email id.
Vanity URLs? I’ve still yet to even set up my profile properly! Google+ just seems like way more hard work than facebook. I know I should get it set up sooner or later, but I just haven’t found the time or the effort yet.
Google+ wants to bit the popularity of facebook. I guess it will happen soon cos I’ve read a lot of good comment about the streamline of google+.
Wow! Really? We can personalize our url? That’s great! Thanks for sharing
